Disproportionately Enlarged Subarachnoid Space Haemorrhage (DESH)
Yamada et al. explores the use of deep learning models to automate the assessment of disproportionately enlarged subarachnoid-space hydrocephalus (DESH), a key imaging marker for Hakim disease, also known as idiopathic normal pressure hydrocephalus (iNPH). By leveraging 3D U-Net and multimodal convolutional neural network (CNN) models, the study evaluates MRI-based segmentation and classification techniques to improve diagnostic accuracy and reduce human interpretation variability. The research highlights the potential of artificial intelligence in streamlining DESH detection, potentially leading to earlier and more reliable diagnoses.
